Solomon Grundy - Painted 5 by *JamieDMac is a wonderful piece of work, I love the blank expression and the myriad of textures from the skin to the hair and the torn and worn clothing. The attention to anatomy and proportions especially in the face are incredibly well researched. (Suggested by *handyrand and Featured by ^Thebuild)

I saw this on clubhouse yesterday and was really impressed but forgot to commment-lol. Again really nice paint up-I like the way his skin looks cold and frosty-if you know what I mean.
Sorry if that not what you intended,I don't know the original character.

YES, that is spot on!! :w00t: Thank you Sarah! :)
A cold look was exactly what I was going for... 'cus he's dead after all. I also thought if it looked cold it would help convey the emotion of sadness and solitude, or not, I dunno. The skin in the pics as come out a bit too fluroscent, you can't really see the blending. It's a bit more subtle in real life. But nevermind.
Thanks again!

wow-that was good from, considering i've never seen the character before, and yes it does convey sadness.Don't u just hate cameras eh-lol.
looks good anyway tho :)

Thank you Randy!
I'm not sure how I feel about this one painted. I was quite tempted just to leave it primed. Like we were saying before about how sometimes a piece loses something once it's coloured. Was afraid that would be particulary true with this piece. It was fun painting the base though I must say. I love sculpting and painting decaying old stone... yeah, I'm a simple creature...
I would still like to get it cast in bronze someday, think it would work better with a bronze finish.
But it certainly feels good to have them finished. Now I can get back to the clay! Woo-Hoo!!
Thanks again for the kind words my friend, always appreciate it!
Take care,
Jamie

You bet Jamie!
I'd like to see a primer gray version as well. I do think you nailed the color on this though...I'm liking it a lot.
Bronze would be very cool as well.
If you ever wanted to get one cast and it wasn't too expensive to ship, I'd do a patina on the bronze for free if you just took care of the shipping both ways...
I just enjoy doing patina's on cool pieces now and then...
That's all I used to do at the foundry for 6 1/2 years when I worked there.
Keep up the incredible work my friend!
Take care,
Randy

Great to see you casting these bits and pieces. Also really nice to see them with a coat of paint too as it really gives the sculpts more feeling.

Jamie - Looks great! I love how you made the clothes feel really tight and fitted....in some way it helps with the sad confined feeling.
This would also look great in a bronze.
